Visualizing IOT Data for Smarter Decision Support Systems

Target is driving an initiative from the grass roots level to achieve energy and asset management efficiencies. The key theme is to use the concept of Internet of Things to effectively manage building equipment in the stores remotely. The main challenge dealing with these kinds of decision support systems is the volume, velocity and volatility of the data and how to simplify it at the end user level to drive action. In this presentation, we will cover how we built a visualization tool to fix condensation related issues in the store on top of an end to end automated complex backend process comprising of Hadoop ecosystem, RDBMS and analytical algorithms. The visualization of data in a simple, complete and targeted manner enabled the business to make smarter action driven decisions quickly. The solution resulted in a significant reduction of the overall number of condensation issues in the stores.
