Eric Herness

Biography: 

Eric Herness is an IBM Fellow in the IBM Hybrid Cloud organization. As the CTO for Hybrid Cloud, Eric leads the architecture and technology exploration activity for the broader Hybrid Cloud business. This includes introducing new cloud native capabilities and evolving current middleware capabilities to play a key role in hybrid cloud based solutions.

Eric has made significant, sustained contributions to IBM’s software portfolio including architecture and product delivery in the areas of container-managed systems, business integration, service-oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, business rules, process automation, business activity monitoring, and business process management. Eric has been a leader in moving IBM middleware into the cloud. He has engaged many clients, focusing on large accounts deploying diverse sets of middleware capabilities in large volumes.

Leveraging Kubernetes-Based Platforms for Microservices

Container-based platforms are quickly becoming the default choice for running systems constructed leveraging microservice architectures. This session will explore container-based execution environments and particularly kubernetes focusing on the features and consumption approaches that can have the most positive impact on the overall application development process.
