This year we are focusing on disruptive innovations. In the past 15 years, we have seen internet-based technology substantially disrupt travel, insurance, music and entertainment distribution, publishing, and a variety of other industries; and more recently, mobile devices and big data have substantially changed the way we search, navigate, and interact with one another. In this conference, we look back at previous "disruptions" and ahead at technologies that are likely to be disruptive in the near future: ubiquitous computing and the internet of things, making, tele- and personalized medicine, and languages and tools that will change our lives.
These technologies will be examined by world-class speakers and through interactive sessions in which we will experience them hands-on. To this end, at this year's Code Freeze, we will have you build a contribution to the internet of things. We have an afternoon session in which you will make something cool with a bluetooth arduino board -- and it's yours to keep afterwards! All you need is a smart phone (iPhone or Android) Windows PC, or Mac. There is a small app to install.
