Rich Daddi - Change Leadership – A Simple Model

Date of Event:
Thursday, November 10, 2011 - 5:30pm
Location:
University of Minnesota, Keller Hall (EE/CS Building)
Abstract:

IT drives change in organizations. From process, to people, to technology, change consumes our time, our thinking, and our resources. Over the years the IT workforce has become very good at managing change — managing the tasks to get us from point A to point B. In addition to change management, organizations must also focus on change leadership — creating buy-in, building support, and minimizing the emotional impacts from a change effort. Too often, change leadership is forgotten, ignored, or employed too late in the game as a damage control effort. Change Leadership - A Simple Model presents a simple three step model that can be easily incorporated into any change effort. The Simple Model suggests that addressing clarity, empathy, and perspective as part of the change process minimizes the emotional cost and increases stakeholder commitment thereby leading to better overall success.
